BY DR. RICHARD
At
the time of its writing in 1993, The
Management Myth - Exploring the Essence of
Future Organizations, was a
frame-shattering book from a first-time
author. Almost fifteen years later, the key
ideas are still pertinent for most
contemporary corporations. The book is in
three parts. Part One is contextual; it
attempts to make sense of the state of the
world and the complexity human beings have
created. Part Two proposes alternative ways
of perceiving and designing organizations as
a result of this changed context. Part Three
proposes a new theory of management based
upon humanistic principles, cybernetic
governance and systemic emergence. Order it

Richard's
second book, Burying the 20th Century -
New Paths to New Futures, was written in
1996 and published the following year. Here
Richard expanded on a number of issues that
had become important to him, such as
integral systems design, ecological
thinking, social foresight and biomimicry,
for example. Written in conjunction with
Geraldene Callanan, this book proposed
entirely new (and often novel) solutions to
many of the contemporary dilemmas (such as
social inequity and environmental
degradation, for example) caused by the way
human beings have chosen to live their
lives. This book also formed the theoretical
underpinnings for his future research into
five literacies leadership. Click on the

In
April 2007 Richard's third book was
published by John Wiley & Sons (UK) under
their Jossey-Bass Business & Professional
Books imprint. The result of over ten years
of intensive and expansive research across
five continents, The Five Literacies of
Global Leadership: What authentic leaders
know (and you need to find out) is in
the tradition of Richard's earlier work.
Fearlessly questioning and intellectually
challenging, it explodes many of the
conventional myths and orthodoxies
surrounding Western-style celebrity
leadership as a fraudulent distraction,
while laying open an entirely new paradigm
for facilitating positive change. This book
will be available in other markets
(including Asia, Australia and the US) from
June 2007. Click on the image to order from
